Facebook’s changes to improve political advertising transparency are now live in the UK.
The fact that the ad is political is clearly marked and the user experience to find out more information is, unsurprisingly, simple and elegant.
This advert is by Campaigns & Elections, a trade publication for political consultants; it’s interesting that Facebook Pages publishing advertising that is political, but which does not seek to influence votes or perspectives on policy, are also covered.
This is a big step forward and Facebook should be congratulated for leading the way on this issue.
They’ve created a new benchmark for online publishers and implemented it across multiple countries, all before the UK parliament have put pen to paper on amending our election regulations to reflect the digital era.
