Kamala Harris has made a very important and sensible decision.
There’s only really two election campaigns you can run.
You’re either a challenger and you argue it’s time for a change.
Or you’re an incumbent and you argue that change would be bad and continuity will lead to a better future.
Kamala Harris has made very clear since she emerged as the likely Democratic Party Presidential candidate that she’ll be running an incumbent campaign.

This is sensible because she could never realistically claim, having been Joe Biden’s VP for nearly 4 years, that she’s a change candidate.
The major downside is that the polling shows that most Americans are yearning for change.

So whilst Harris has done the right thing in quickly embracing the only viable strategy she has available to her, she certainly has her work cut out for her over the next 100 days until polling day.
‘Incumbent’ narrative yes, but nuanced by “Our fight for the FUTURE is also a fight for FREEDOM.” This contains strong elements of challenge to and change from the Trump legacy which has over-hung over the Biden Presidency, especially with regard to the abortion issue.
