The Conservatives are trying to pin any voter resentment around disruption caused by the huge rise in industrial action on the Labour Party.
The campaign “they work for unions” – a pun on “they work for you” – highlights the amount of money Labour MPs have taken in donations from unions.

Voters can search a database to reveal how much money an MP has received and from which unions.
It’s a defensive play to try and limit the damage. A poll carried out by Opinium on behalf of Compassion in Politics, a think tank, found that 41% of those surveyed believe the Conservatives are responsible for strikes vs 35% saying unions and 11% blaming employers.
