This is one of the best party election broadcasts you’ll see.
In their first election broadcast, the Liberal Democrats present Ed Davey in a highly personal light, as part of a strategic effort to make him more famous and therefore raise the salience of the Liberal Democrat’s.
The incredibly emotive broadcast features footage of Davey caring for his disabled teenage son, John, and speaking about the early deaths of his parents.
As well as introducing Davey to voters it highlights the party’s commitment to improving the state of care in the UK.
Davey has spent most of the general election so far making headlines with various visual stunts, such as falling off a paddleboard, going on a waterslide, and cycling down a steep hill.
They’ve been effective at getting his name and image out there, but this piece of communication is much more weighty and will catalyse all his other efforts.
